Cheddar Scallion Scones

What you'll need

Scones use classic baking ingredients like all-purpose flour, egg, and baking powder.

If you don't have a pastry cutter, dice the butter up into pea-sized cubes.


Combine the dry ingredients together in a medium mixing bowl. Stir in the cubed butter.


Pour in the whisked egg and milk. Stir until a tacky ball forms, then fold in the cheese and scallions. It will still be a little crumbly.


On a lightly floured surface, fold the dough over itself 3-4 times. Don't roll it out. Shape it into a 9-inch round.


Cut the dough into 6-8 triangles using a knife or bench scraper.


Brush with melted butter. Place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake for 18-22 minutes, until golden.
