Stovetop Popcorn

how to make the best

Stovetop Popcorn

Making popcorn at home is really easy. All you need is popcorn kernels, canola oil, a Dutch oven or stock pot, and less than 10 minutes of time.

Ingredients

-Popcorn: Choose yellow or white kernels -Oil: Choose neutral oil like canola, vegetable, or avocado oil -Seasonings of choice

In a large Dutch oven or stock pot, add 2 tablespoons oil and 2-3 kernels of popcorn. This is the "test popcorn".

Step One

Cover with a lid. Wait for the popcorn to pop, about 2-3 minutes. Once popped, remove the kernels from the pot.

Step Two

Add all of the kernels to the pot with the hot oil. Place a lid slightly ajar on the pot. The popcorn should start popping in 25-30 seconds.

Step 3

To avoid burning the popcorn, shake the pot for a few seconds every 20-30 seconds. Remove the popcorn from the heat when completely popped.
