Ready in half the time as it takes in the oven, these air fryer roasted sweet potatoes are the perfect addition to dinner! They are tender and fluffy and can be made with or without peeling in under 20 minutes.

The only recipe that I make in my air fryer more than air fryer tofu are these air fryer roasted sweet potatoes (and my regular air fryer roasted potatoes!).
As much as I love making my oven-baked crispy roasted sweet potatoes, it's hard to beat the speed of air fryer recipes.
These air fried sweet potatoes are cooked in under 20 minutes and can be kept simple with salt & pepper or made into a delicious side with my go-to smoky and spicy seasoning blend. I frequently use the seasoned sweet potatoes in sweet potato enchiladas and grain bowls.

Recipe at a glance
- The sweet potatoes are perfectly cooked in 15-18 minutes at 375F.
- This method works best with 1 pound of sweet potato, but can be doubled if you have a large air fryer basket.
- I tested this recipe using my Cuisinart toast oven/air fryer combo.
- The sweet potatoes are seasoned with smoky and slightly spice spice blend.
Ingredients

- Sweet potatoes: One pound of sweet potatoes is typically two small potatoes or one large. This recipe works with peeled or unpeeled sweet potatoes.
- Oil: Canola oil is my go-to neutral oil, but avocado, vegetable, or olive oil also work here. Air fried ingredients do still need some oil, as it helps with texture.
- Salt: I use kosher salt. Adjust to taste.
- Optional seasonings: Chipotle chili powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder add spicy and smoky flavor.
How to air fry sweet potatoes

- Peel the potatoes, if desired. Dice into roughly ½-inch cubes.
- In a bowl, drizzle with 1 teaspoon of oil and toss with ¼ teaspoon salt and optional seasonings. Toss to combine.
- Transfer to the air fryer basket. Leave space between the pieces to allow air flow.
- Air fry at 375F for 15-18 minutes. She the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. The sweet potatoes are ready when tender and fluffy appearing.
Storage tips
- Storage: Best within 3-4 days. Keep refrigerated in a closed container.
- Reheating: Reheat in the air fryer at 350F for 3 minutes. The sweet potatoes can also be reheated in the microwave but it gives them a denser texture than when they are reheated in the air fryer.
